Georgia football coach Mark Richt will receive a raise to $2.8 million a year after the executive committee of the Georgia Athletic Association board of directors approved the measure on Thursday.
Richt had made $2.2 million a year. The raise makes him the fifth-highest paid coach in the SEC. He had been the seventh-highest paid coach in the conference. His contract remains through 2013. The Bulldogs went 11-2 last season, finished the season ranked No. 2 and defeated Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. The team is being picked by many to challenge for the national championship this season.
