Javon Walker found unconscious after apparent robbery in Vegas
Written by Sports Dude on June 17, 2008 – 10:53 am
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker was found unconscious on a Las Vegas street Monday after apparently being the victim of a robbery.
Police spokesman Bill Cassell said in a statement that Walker was taken to a hospital with “significant injuries” after being found early Monday on a street off the Las Vegas Strip.
Cassell said Walker remained in fair condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
A Raiders spokesman said the team was “in the process of gathering information” and had no further comment.
Walker signed a six-year, $55 million deal with the Raiders after being released by the Denver Broncos in February.

Jonathan Ogden decides to retire; Didn’t know he had a hot wife!
Written by Sports Dude on March 14, 2008 – 9:34 am
Well it looks like the 6′9, 345 pounds monster tackle of the Baltimore Ravens, Jonathan Ogden, is calling it a career. He was the staple that held together the O-line in Baltimore all the way back to their 2000 Superbowl win. He made it to the Pro Bowl 11 straight seasons and kept defensive ends at bay when trying to rush whoever their QB was (Boller, Dilfer, Redman, whoever). But injuries in the past few seasons kept him off the field and helped faster defenders to rush past him. Remember a year ago against the Super Bowl Champs that year Colts (they were 13- 3 that year!)? I know that he will be in the Hall of Fame soon, as soon as 2013 with Brett Favre.
But on a side note, don’t have many pics but from this pic, his wife looks pretty hot.

Brett Favre breaks down in tears at his retirement press conference
Written by Sports Dude on March 6, 2008 – 5:47 pmCheck out video of Packer great Brett Favre breakdown during his press conference on his retiring. I have to admit, it got me when I watched it live. There were times in the past where I hated on Brett, but as I continued to watch, he gained my respect. He played with a lot of passion and a gunslinger’s mentality, shooting his guns until there were no rounds left in the chamber. Oh yes, there were times he shot blanks, but there were other times he could not miss.
Favre said, “I promised I wouldn’t get emotional” and then, after a long pause, “It’s never easy. You know, it’s funny, I watched hundreds of players retire, and you wonder what that would be like. You think you’re prepared.”
He then took about 20 seconds to regain his composure before continuing, by saying what he said to his wife prior to the press conference: “I was telling Deanna on the way over here, God has blessed me with so many great things, abilities, wonderful family, and as I was flying up here today I thought about so many things and I wanted to say so many things that I feel like I needed to say. But He gave me an opportunity to use my abilities and I seized that opportunity. I thank Him for that.”
He then said, “I’d like to thank the Packers for giving me the opportunity as well.” And then he broke into tears again as he said, “I hope that every penny … I hope that every penny that they’ve spent on me, they know that’s money well spent. It was never about the money, the fame, the records. I hear people talk about ‘Your accomplishments’ and things that — it was never my accomplishments, it was our accomplishments.”

The Brett Favre Voicemail Message To Chris Mortensen
Written by Sports Dude on March 5, 2008 – 3:59 pmHere’s the voicemail message sent to Chris Mortensen from now retired Brett Favre on the day that he chose to leave the NFL. He speaks about him being tired and it was Superbowl or Bust for him. I don’t think that there will be many like Brett to come along because I don’t know how many teams could tolerate a QB with his off the field problems, slung it around like he did with the INTs, but still came up big when it counted. I don’t think teams would wait to see the good, with all the bad could go wrong. This was the guy who’s first pass in the NFL was one to himself, go figure.

John Madden just went on suicide watch! Brett Favre decides to hang it up and retire.
Written by Sports Dude on March 4, 2008 – 10:21 am
Well, we knew this was inevitable that the great Brett Favre would announce his retirement after a 17 year run. From his drunken days in Atlanta to his pain pill addictions in Green Bay, he was able to fight those demons to become one the NFL’s most popular QBs ever. 3 time MVP, Super Bowl Champ, and coming off of his best season in a few years, it comes to me as a shock that he would retire now. He showed last year that he till had it, but considering the thing that haunted him the most did him in on a snowy night in Green Bay which was INTs, it is almost poetic justice for it to end the way that it did from him.
I loved his no holds barred approach to the game leaving it all on the field, but sometimes the INTs were a little too much for me. But who could forget the great game against Oakland after his dad died where every throw seemed to fall in a Packer’s hand, or the first superbowl win against the Pats, or his dominance over the NFC North. There was so much he did in his career that I will always remember. Thanks for the memories Brett, now don’t do a Michael Jordan and come back. We want to remember you the way that we do.

Video of Miami Dolphin Ricky Williams on Pros vs. Joes; Guess that chest is feeling alright
Written by Sports Dude on January 24, 2008 – 11:28 pmSpike TV’s reality show “Pros vs. Joes” where they usually get some athlete who is past their time go up against regular ole’ Joes (Hince the name) for different challenges. But in searching the Spike website, we have actually come across secret footage of one Ricky Williams participating. Shhhhhhhhh! Don’t tell the Big Tuna, but Ricky doesn’t seem to be hurt anymore. Remember, Monday Night Football, Ricky’s big return to the NFL after being banished to the Canadian Football League because he was smart enough to realize he had a piss test coming up. But in that return, he tore his chest muscle. But here he is in a video showing that he won’t let a little thing like a chest injury and the possibilty of making some real money in the NFL get in his way of running over regular joes.

The Atlanta Falcons finally has a head coach…It’s Mike Smith…Who…Mike Smith…Who?
Written by Sports Dude on January 24, 2008 – 10:42 am
Yes, you may be asking yourself that as an Falcons fan, but we will find out soon enough if Smith, former Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Coordinator has what it takes to rise the Falcons out of the Abyss at which they sit at this current time. Jacksonville has always had a very good defense that were good enough to keep them in games and do this against divisional foes like Indianapolis and Tennessee, but their offense has always been average at best (They were better this year under Garrad as the starter)
But now he sits with a team that has no starting QB, no offensive line, trouble on the defensive line, trouble in the locker room
with veteran players like Crumpler and Hall, and a media circus with Mike Vick currently serving a prison term.
I will not say that this was a bad move considering the likes of Cowher who decided to stay away and other experienced
coaches, we will just have to wait and see on this one.

Deion Sanders calls LT out
Written by Sports Dude on January 22, 2008 – 11:07 am
” NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders said on Sunday night’s “NFL GameDay” that “big-time players must play in big-time games.
“It must be surgery for him to get a pass on this one,” Sanders continued. “I hope we come up with something in the offseason that is not severe but that warrants surgery, because there is no reason not to play, with all the medication in the world today, not to play in this big game that could propel your team into the Super Bowl.”
Looks like everyone has a few questions for LT.
” “He’s never been a running back and had a sprained MCL,” Tomlinson said. “You tell me what running back has played with a sprained MCL and been effective. … I don’t know how that information gets passed on, but until you talk to the source of the problem, what’s going on with me, I think it’s ridiculous when people make comments like that.”"
LT’s image continues to take a hit. Now he”ll not only be viewed as mouthy by wimpy as well.
