New York Yankee construction workers spoil the fun of some dope buring a Red Sox jersey…
Written by Sports Dude on April 13, 2008 – 7:00 pm
This is just dumb. It seems that the Yankees had to get their construction workers to go through 2 feet of cement to find a Red Sox jersey that was buried to have something to hang over the heads Yankee Fans when they enter their new stadium. But thank goodness they were tipped off on this to stop this dumb ass joke.
On Saturday, construction workers who remembered the employee, Gino Castignoli, phoned in tips about the shirt’s location. “We had anonymous people come tell us where it was, and we were able to find it,†said Frank Gramarossa, a project executive with Turner Construction, the general contractor on the site.
It took about five hours of drilling Saturday to locate the shirt under 2 feet of concrete, he said.
Trost said the Yankees had discussed possible criminal charges against Castignoli with the district attorney’s office.“We will take appropriate action since fortunately we do know the name of the individual,†he said.
A woman who answered the phone at Castignoli’s home in the Bronx on Sunday said he was not there.
Hey, Im not a Yankee fan, but this shit has to stop when it comes to people fukking with a multi-million dollar project just to have something to chant about during the baseball season on curses and other crap.
Read more about this and I hope whoever did this gets prosecuted for this. I like pranks, but this is just dumb.

HGH may worsen performance, not enhance it
Written by Sports Dude on March 18, 2008 – 8:09 am
Athletes who take human growth hormone may not be getting the boost they expected.
While growth hormone adds some muscle, it doesn’t appear to improve strength or exercise capacity, according to a review of studies that tested the hormone in mostly athletic young men.
“It doesn’t look like it helps and there’s a hint of evidence it may worsen athletic performance,” said Dr. Hau Liu, of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Calif., who was lead author of the review.
Growth hormone, or HGH, is among the performance enhancers baseball stars Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were accused of taking in the blockbuster Mitchell Report. Clemens denies using the hormone, while Pettitte admits using it.
But the new research has some limitations and sheds no light on long-term use of HGH. The scientists note their analysis included few studies that measured performance. The tests also probably don’t reflect the dose and frequency practiced by athletes illegally using the hormone. Experiments like that aren’t likely to be conducted.
“It’s dangerous, unethical and it’s never going to be done,” said Dr. Gary I. Wadler, a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency and a spokesman for the American College of Sports Medicine.

Pedro Martinez, has Mike Vick not taught us anything?
Written by Sports Dude on February 8, 2008 – 11:05 am
Mike Vick has taught us that our society frowns upon the fighting of animals. Was PETA marching up and down the Falcons practices not enough to show you that you can’t be struttin’ around a ring with a Cock getting it ready for fighting. The sad thing about it is, you on camera dude! And you are showing all 32’s too while doing it. Eventhough this type of fighting is legal in the Dominican Republic, don’t you think that the NY Mets might have something to say about their star pitcher, the same pitcher that was supposed to deliver their franchise a World Series, around this type of activity?Has Mike not shown us how ugly it can get as a celebrity involved with activities like this? But just look at yourself. Well, everyone can see you. You don’t have your boys who can try to cover for you and then snitch on you, you dug the grave and did a good job of adding the dirt on top of you. Let’s see if this gets as ugly as it was in Virginia this fall. I don’t think that it will, but let’s just see. Here is video: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid285859616/bclid294430730/bctid1408993307

Carlos Zambrano and Michael Barrett Fight in the Dugout, well, slapfest video
Written by Sports Dude on June 2, 2007 – 12:58 amHere’s the video of the non-fight and partial fist of Carlos Zambrano hitting his catcher Michael Barrett. Next time Michael, you probably want to focus on the pissed off man in front of you instead of trying to point out something. And Carlos, my man, when punching, you are supposed to close your fist. Only people who open hand are pimps and girls and you are neither.

This is how one fan makes good use of that back wash of beer left after the Dodger game
Written by Sports Dude on May 24, 2007 – 8:50 pmBeer at Dodger Stadium: $9
Tickets to the game: $20
Pouring that $9 beer down my shirt like I’m at a Cancun Wet T-Shirt Party while cameras take closeup shots of my big boobs: PRICELESS!
For moments like these, there’s the internet to show people just how drunk you were.

I wonder if she will get more people to join in on this 9th inning ritual? Hmmm….

What happens when you combine hot chicks with talking sports? Well, you just get hot chicks aaand Sports.
Written by Sports Dude on May 9, 2007 – 8:04 pm
While surfing the net I come across a lot of things and as always, I have to check out some of my favorite video sites like youtube. But when I get to MetaCafe.com, I go through the Sports Videos just to see if there was something in there kinda cool. Well, I saw this familiar looking logo but instead of it being Fox News it’s FoxxySports.com and I see this hot chick in the pic, so I decided to take a gander since chicks and sports go together right?
Well here is the host, Monica Leigh, and she starts talking about the NL Central in MLB. I listen, but she obviously was not comfortable with the material. She could be seen reading off of something and would stumble every so often. Especially at the 1:40 mark where she says the Pittsburgh Pirates “have loads of hung, young hungry players”! Heey, she stumbled guys, get your heads outta the gutters!
But I continue to listen and focus in on her and her nice rack and then its over. It may come to be a cool place to listen to sports and check out some hot chicks at the same time. Check out the video. Remember, they are Fair, Balanced, and always Hot!

Major League Baseball To Air the 2007 MLB Draft on ESPN 2
Written by Sports Dude on May 7, 2007 – 4:32 pm
The NFL and NBA drafts have been televised for years. Now, Major League Baseball is joining the trend. For the first time in its history, the baseball entry draft will be aired live on ESPN2. Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 7th at 2 p.m. ET from Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The broadcast will end at 6 p.m. ET. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said the telecast, “will give fans access to see this critical function of an organization’s development.
This is an idea whose time has come.” Each team’s first round pick will be televised and all clubs will have a maximum of five minutes to make their selections. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays will have the first selection. The San Francisco Giants will have three picks in the first round, while the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers will each have two first round choices. The draft will have 50 rounds and will conclude after all 30 teams have passed on a selection or after the final selection of the 50th round, whichever comes first.
My Take:
“I don’t know if this would have the impact of say the NFL because many of us don’t know many of these guys. Even in the NBA, after the first few players in the 1st round, there are many foreign players that we have never heard of. In baseball, we have those coming straight out of high school and have not seen many of the players play like we would on Saturdays during the fall. It may be successful, but it looks like ESPN doesn’t feel too good about it either because it is being placed on their B-Team with it being on ESPN 2. I just hope that we don’t have to hear Chris Berman go ‘There it gooooes, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back!!!!’ ”

Josh Hancock was drunk, had marijuana in his car that killed him
Written by Sports Dude on May 5, 2007 – 2:20 pmST. LOUIS — St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was drunk and talking on his cell phone at the time of his fatal accident, and marijuana was found in the sport utility vehicle he was driving.
Medical examiner Michael Graham said at a news conference Friday that the 29-year-old reliever was dead “within seconds” from head injuries in the crash early Sunday on Interstate 64 in St. Louis. His vehicle hit the back of a tow truck parked on the highway to assist a driver from a previous accident.
“There is nothing at all that could have been done for him,” Graham said.
Hancock’s blood-alcohol level was 0.157, nearly twice Missouri’s legal limit of 0.08, Graham said.
Police chief Joe Mokwa said 8.55 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana were found in the rented Ford Explorer. Toxicology tests to determine if drugs were in his system had not been completed.
“I think there was an expectation that alcohol was involved, so I’m not sure what was said today is going to make [Hancock's family] feel worse or suffer more or feel differently about Josh,” Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said at a news conference at Busch Stadium. “The marijuana part, I don’t know how to answer that part.”
An accident reconstruction team determined Hancock was traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone when his SUV struck the back of a flatbed tow truck stopped in a driving lane. Mokwa said there was no evidence Hancock tried to stop. He did swerve, but too late to avoid the collision.
Hancock was not wearing a seat belt, but Graham said the belt would not have prevented his death.
