Tennessee Volunteers, you make me sick to my stomach! Bruce Pearl, how bout doing some coaching
Written by Sports Dude on March 28, 2008 – 10:59 am
Well, my bracket is totally screwed. Â Not only did Georgetown take a big, fat doodie on my bracket, now Tennessee comes right behind them and did the same thing. Â Losing last night to Louisville in a game that was not even close. Â As I watched Bruce Pearl continue to do his non-coaching and watch Rick Pitino do an excellent job coaching. Â Â Pitino’s Cardinals were out on the break, getting second chance shots, and throwing Alley’s from half court. Â I mean Bruce, you leave Chris Lofton out there to continue to throw up prayers and bricks going 3 - 15 from the field????
Now, I have no Final 4 teams on the left side of the bracket (Had GTown & Tenn) and now noone to represent either (Had Tenn)
Let’s just hope we have a Davidson, Louisville, UCLA, and Memphis Final 4 so I can at least have a chance at 2nd or 3rd.
Hey Bruce, now you have plenty of time to run around the student section of the Women’s NCAA Tournament and watch your Volunteers play some real bball behind Candace “Hottie” Parker and Pat Summit.
Go put a shirt on!

Adam, we feel your pain!
Well, my bracket is falling apart faster than Britney Spears’ life. Last second shots are killing me! Gonzaga, Vanderbilt, Uconn, Drake, Oregon, Kentucky, and Kent State, you let me down. How in the hell did West Kentucky win that game with that looooooooooooooong 3???? Uconn, what are you doing? And Vandy, who in the hell or what in the hell is Sienna?!! At least none of my Final Four teams have lost. Come on Tenn, Georgetown, Memphis, and UCLA.Â

New Ohio State Buckeye, Terrelle Pryor putting straight nutts in this guys face on this dunk (Video)
Written by Sports Dude on March 20, 2008 – 12:01 am
Finally, Terrelle Pryor decides on a school which was Ohio State. He knows that if he wants to get to the next level, their offense would showcase his skills more than a Rich Rodriquez run based offense @ Michigan. I didn’t agree with him taking so long on his decision, but hey, it was his to make, not mine.
But check out this dunk over this unsuspecting defender who gets a nice mouthful nutts while the Pennsylvania state champ basketball player Terrelle Pryor shows his skills on the court as well. Can’t wait to see this guy in the fall.

The Houston Rockets bandwagon train ends. Passengers since 22 games ago, please exit left.
Written by Sports Dude on March 19, 2008 – 12:34 am
All I want to say is it was a good run, but one that I’m glad to be over and it ended with a 20 point margin, 94 - 74 Boston. No more media crap, no more Houston fans bumping their chests, no more Tracy “The only thing I know how to do in the first round of the playoffs is choke and cry” McGrady interviews. They can finally go back to the Rockets that we know they are without their big man Yao. Any Houston fans, sorry, it was getting too much.  Looks like Raefer Alston is taking over for McGrady in the regular season crying already.
Thanks Boston!

UCF football player Ereck Plancher dies after conditioning drills; Sad story.
Written by Sports Dude on March 18, 2008 – 3:57 pm
This is such a sad story. A kid who did what he needed to do by not only getting to play division I football, but have the grades to start school early. It hits home because I have a younger brother who’s currently playing D-I football and he’s a receiver too and they’re going through drills now. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
University of Central Florida football player Ereck Plancher died today after collapsing after a workout in preparation for the opening of the Knights’ spring practice.
Plancher, a redshirt freshman receiver from Naples, died shortly after being taken by ambulance to Florida Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:51 a.m. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
Players were leaving the Knights’ indoor practice facility, Nicholson Fieldhouse, when Plancher collapsed, UCF associate athletic director Joe Hornstein said. He said the incident did not occur during the workout.
“My goal was to try to get a 4.0 [grade-point average] in the spring so I could get off to a good start,” he said. “I wasn’t worried about playing time. I just wanted a chance to find my way around.”

HGH may worsen performance, not enhance it
Written by Sports Dude on March 18, 2008 – 8:09 am
Athletes who take human growth hormone may not be getting the boost they expected.
While growth hormone adds some muscle, it doesn’t appear to improve strength or exercise capacity, according to a review of studies that tested the hormone in mostly athletic young men.
“It doesn’t look like it helps and there’s a hint of evidence it may worsen athletic performance,” said Dr. Hau Liu, of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Calif., who was lead author of the review.
Growth hormone, or HGH, is among the performance enhancers baseball stars Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte were accused of taking in the blockbuster Mitchell Report. Clemens denies using the hormone, while Pettitte admits using it.
But the new research has some limitations and sheds no light on long-term use of HGH. The scientists note their analysis included few studies that measured performance. The tests also probably don’t reflect the dose and frequency practiced by athletes illegally using the hormone. Experiments like that aren’t likely to be conducted.
“It’s dangerous, unethical and it’s never going to be done,” said Dr. Gary I. Wadler, a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency and a spokesman for the American College of Sports Medicine.

Jonathan Ogden decides to retire; Didn’t know he had a hot wife!
Written by Sports Dude on March 14, 2008 – 9:34 am
Well it looks like the 6′9, 345 pounds monster tackle of the Baltimore Ravens, Jonathan Ogden, is calling it a career. He was the staple that held together the O-line in Baltimore all the way back to their 2000 Superbowl win. He made it to the Pro Bowl 11 straight seasons and kept defensive ends at bay when trying to rush whoever their QB was (Boller, Dilfer, Redman, whoever). But injuries in the past few seasons kept him off the field and helped faster defenders to rush past him. Remember a year ago against the Super Bowl Champs that year Colts (they were 13- 3 that year!)? I know that he will be in the Hall of Fame soon, as soon as 2013 with Brett Favre.
But on a side note, don’t have many pics but from this pic, his wife looks pretty hot.

Houston Rockets 20 - 0 huh? Will someone just beat them already so I can’t hear this
Written by Sports Dude on March 13, 2008 – 9:57 amThe Houston Rockets knock off the worst 8th seeded team in the history in basktball in the Atlanta Hawks to win their 20th victory. I was happy for them, but when I have to hear delusional announcers talking about “this is their finest hour”, I think to myself WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT! Do we not remember the ‘94 & ‘95 back-to-back wins by the Rockets (Eventhough those were the years that Jordan was retired)? A team with Robert Horry, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith, and Sam Cassell, Hall of Famers.Â
Someone, just take these guys (meaning the fans) our of their misery. They’re even making up songs for the team.Â
Â
Pathetic.
