Looks like Hawai’i head coach June Jones is bolting. Is he headed to SMU?

Reports have surfaced that June Jones has resigned from his head coach position after a horrible showing in the Sugar Bowl to remind the little conferences that they are not quite ready to play with the big boys of the SEC yet.
Kent Untermann, a former Hawaii player and member of Na Koa, the school’s booster club, told KHNL that Jones’ was leaving because of frustration with how the athletic department was run, not because he felt his salary was too low.  ”He wants to be here but he has come to the point where he feels nothing is going to change,” Untermann said. “He feels he has done his part but hasn’t gotten the support and leadership from the administration.”
And I think that his pay is too low for what he has produced out there in paradise.  I’m sure that he will miss the mild weather, the hula girls, and how the alumni is not on his back, but with a few mill in the bank, he can go to Hawai’i any time during the off-season.  He is currently making only $800k and it looks like SMU is offering him between $1.7 - $2 million a year.  He’s not even the highest paid WAC coach, Pat Hill of Fresno State is.
